About

Joe Burke is a Chicago based designer specializing in lighting and projection design for live performance. Since 2005, he has been working the live entertainment business as a technical, programmer, manager, and designer. As a designer, his work-flow is organic in nature, growing and changing as a facet of the storytelling process. He molds his work to match the desired esthetic of each project, working as a open minded collaborator, offering his experience to others and inviting others to influence his artistry. From large productions to small intimate projects each performance has a story to tell.

In addition to designing for live performance, Joe has also consulted on new system designs and installations as well as work animating and creating content for digital signage, and display boards.

Joe's work has been seen with:  A-squared Theatre Workshop, Case Western Reserve University, Chamber Opera Chicago, Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, Cleveland Public Theatre, Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Imagine Exhibitions Incorporated, Museum of Contemporary Art-Chicago, North Park University Opera, Northwestern University, Paramount Theatre, Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre, Theatre Wit!, The House Theatre of Chicago, theMart, The Poetry Foundation, The Yard, Third Coast Percussion, Travesty Dance Group, Sacramento at Music Circus, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Steep Theatre, and Writers' Theatre.
